It's finally the season to dust off your bike from the garage, or try out your new wheels with a scenic ride. Garden State residents, we've got you covered with our top picks for trails and parks.
1. BARNEGAT ISLAND STATE PARK
Sitting at the tip of Long Beach Island is a 162-year-old-light house that mirrors our iconic head badge. You can cruise around the shoreline in this state park, watch boats pass in the bay, or stop by local shops. If you have a bike lock handy, you can even climb to the top of the lighthouse and overlook the entire island!
2. ATLANTIC CITY BOARDWALK
The best way to experience the Atlantic City boardwalk is by bike! Leisurely cruise up and down the 4-mile-long boardwalk, and make sure to stop for some saltwater taffy as you go.
3. DELAWARE & RARITAN CANAL STATE PARK
History buffs, this one is for you! Spanning over 70 miles long and serving as NJ's longest multi-use trail, the Delaware and Raritan Canal is ideal for those who want to experience beautiful river views and wildlife sightings. During this historic trail, you will enjoy the sights of 1800s-era bridges, bridge-tender houses, and hand-built stone culverts.
4. HUDSON RIVER WATERFRONT WALKWAY
Spectacular water views of New York City are waiting for you on the western shore of the Hudson River. This 18.5-mile bike path runs through Hoboken, Jersey City, and West New York - to name a few. During this trail, there's no shortage of restaurants, museums, and local shops to enjoy.
5. WEST ESSEX TRAIL
As one of our personal favorites, we can vouch for how amazing the West Essex Trail is. Barely 3 miles long, this path follows the former railway track throughout Essex and Passaic County. Unlike some of our other recommendations, this trail offers a more secluded scenery for you to find your inner peace.
